Walt Disney Studios snags 17 Oscar nominations, can you believe that?
As a long time Disney Studios fan I can’t say I’m shocked that they have managed to snag 17 Oscar nominations, but I am still impressed! I knew it was bound to happen, and was very happy to see my three favorites of 2012 on the list!
I watched The Avengers in the theater four times, this is a first for me. I think the only other movies I have seen in theater more than once where Cars 2 and Winne The Pooh, and those were because of the kids so to say I loved The Avengers would be an understatement!
Brave was also one of my 2012 favorites and is my all time favorite Pixar movie to date. I have never been captivated by a Pixar film the way I was with Brave, and I don’t see it getting knocked off the list any time soon. From the Celtic beauty to the mother daughter relationship, I don’t know that Pixar will ever be able to top this one (for me).
Oh and Lincon, my final 2012 top-pick. I don’t like movies like this, and would usually just stay away from them all together, but I took a friend and went to the screener, and the cast won me over. I was inspired to give movies like this a chance, and went home with a renewed love for history that I had lost in college (thanks to a dull boring history class).
Do you see any of your favorites on this list? Where you surprised others didn’t get a nomination?

“I’m spinning and beyond thrilled on so many levels. To be included in this amazing group of extraordinary craftsman and exquisite talents has been an honor in itself. But now for us all to receive so much recognition from the Academy I’m deeply appreciative and overwhelmed, and basically, I still can’t believe I got the role.”

“I’m tremendously honored to be a nominee in the company of so many writers and filmmakers whose work I admire. I’m very grateful to Steven and Kathy, to Daniel, Sally, Tommy Lee and the whole cast, to Rick, Joanna, Janusz, Mike and John and everyone who made Lincoln happen. I’m overwhelmed by the Academy’s response to the film. I heard that I’d been nominated while waiting to take off on a plane from JFK to LAX. James Gandolfini, who’s sitting in front of me, gave me a hug and a kiss, so I’m about as happy as can be. ”

“’Frankenweenie’ is a very personal film for me. The idea of telling a feature length version was in the back of my mind for many years. Stop Motion was the perfect medium for this project, and one I’ve always loved for its expressiveness and dimensionality. I’ve worked with so many incredible artists: animators, cast members, set builders, and puppet makers, all who have helped bring this film to life one frame at a time. I’m so honored that the Academy has recognized this film as one of its nominees.”
