My family received Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue (out on DVD 9/21) to review and “oh, my goodness”, what can I say other than “LOVE IT”. This is one of the cutest movies ever! It is full of faith, trust, and pixie dust :)! My daughter usually won’t sit for an entire movie but she has watched this one all the way through at least 8 times since we got it! Don’t tell them but even my boys liked this one.
I think one of the main themes of this movie is not for it’s young viewers but their parents! Lizzy’s father never seems to have time for her. He is always going to be right back, or do what she is asking in just a minute. This really resonated with me as a work-at-home mom because I sometimes feel like I am ALWAYS at work. Every morning for the past two weeks my kids have watched this on the way to school and I have found it to be just the reminder I needed!
I also adore the over -all theme of faith. While I don’t think it was intentional there is one point in the movie where Tink stops the leaks in the house. When the father realizes they have been plugged without explanation he say’s something along the line of “I know there must be a rational explanation for this that I’m just not thinking of”. As a Christian it was a great reminder that every person puts their faith in something! I mean it takes some serious faith to walk away from a house full of leaks after it’s been stopped without a logical explanation, assuming there must have been one you’re not considering!
What We Loved & What We Didn’t:
Loved: The music (Celtic and adorable)! No witches or scary bad guys!
Not So Much: I really can’t think of one – it was that good!
I would suggest buying this today, because I think all things Tink will be “hot” Christmas items this year. I’ve already noticed that our Walmart is having a hard time keeping her toys in stock!
