An Open Letter To My Dog is sponsored by Purina.
Sometimes I think you may be the only one who sees all I do in this house! Sometimes I also feel like you may be the only one who appreciates all I do. You are with me 24/7. You follow me everywhere I go. You keep me company while I cook, clean, work on this blog, and you even like to join me in the bathroom (but hey, who doesn’t).
You are very much like a fifth child, but you can take care of yourself, and you don’t make nearly as many messes, and for that I thank you.
You seem to know when I’m feeling down because you sit there waiting for me to tell you what’s going on. You just listen and look up at me like you get it. You don’t question me or judge my choices. You don’t ask me if I think I should have done something differently. You always have my back.
You haven’t always been the best listener. There were times when I thought I was going to lose my mind with you. I remember when you used to get lose and run away from me. You would have the neighbors trying to catch you, but you were too fast. I thought for sure you were going to get hit by a car, but you always came back, and I finally managed to get you trained.
Those were not the good ole days. Those were the stinky ole days when you would find a big pile of poop to role around in before coming back home. Seriously, Sophie, that was disgusting, but I’m so glad you didn’t get hit by a car and I’m thankful you came back.
I love you, Sophie. I love that you think you’re sneaky when you get up on the couch and jump down when you hear me coming down the stairs. I love the way you get scared of every little noise.
I love the way you lay in my lap at night to watch tv even though you weigh half as much as I do.
I love having you in my life because you are a sweet friend that I cherish spending time with every day.
You make me happy, and I can’t image what I would do without you. Here’s to many more years together.
I am thankful for our friendship Sophie.
This November, Purina wants to thank the four-legged friends who make our lives so special. In advance of Thanksgiving and the National Dog Show, Purina is inviting pet owners across the nation to show the world how they thank their pets.
Post a picture showing how you thank your pet using the hashtag #DogThanking and tagging @Purina. For every original post submitted through November 27 that includes @Purina and the hashtag, #DogThanking, Purina will donate one dollar to the Canine Health Foundation – up to $50,000 – to help further pet health research.
The National Dog Show Presented by Purina, which will premiere on Thanksgiving Day on NBC, will crown one of America’s great dogs as its 2016 champion, bringing canine competition and entertainment to America’s viewers for the 15th year.
