Sunday is usually one of the busiest days for our family. It is also the day that we are most likely to eat out. While I love eating out, it’s not always the best for our budget. We usually spend at least $70 when we take our family of 6 out to eat. This week I tried something a little different. I opted for a “quick” yet tasty meal that could be made in about 12 minutes.
The result? My family LOVED it, and I spent less than $7!
Even my husband who can be super picky about both per-marinated chicken and microwaveable food said he would purchase this again!
I went to Walmart’s Neighborhood Market, and picked up Hillshire Farm Grilled Essentials Italian Chicken (it had a .55 coupon on it, so I was lovin that!). Then I picked up some pasta sauce, a can of corn and “hairbow noodles” as my daughter calls them.
Pasta Sauce: 1.33
Grilled Essentials: $3.48 – .55 (coupon on the box) = 2.93
Can of Corn: .88
Total Time: about 15 minutes
– I brought the water to a boil, cooked the noodles, and while those were cooking I microwaved the corn and chicken, while the pasta sauce simmered.
