Okay, “Office Space” quotes aside, who else has a problem with motivation?!
Who starts their week on fire for the Lord, ready to tackle the laundry, excited about training up their kids, jazzed about jazzercise, and stoked about passing up the cake for the salads? By mid-week (or, sometimes, Tuesday), however, you’re trying to figure out how many days the kids can go without baths, if the lettuce in your hamburger can be considered salad, if reading billboards with scripture can be considered part of your quiet time and if the fact that you actually did one load of laundry counts as a workout.
Who’s with me?!
Well, I have had a sincere lack of motivation in the diet and writing arena for the past few weeks and am searching. Where does my help come from? From the Lord, of course!!
My motivation ONLY comes from the Lord (and my desire not to have to buy new pants). God tells us in His word that we should do all to His Glory and, if we’re doing that, we need not look elsewhere for motivation.
This is my challenge to myself (and I thought ya’ll might be interested as well): Journal what I do everyday, armed with a highlighter.
I seem to become so overwhelmed by this world, that I think sparingly of the Lord, so I’m going to hold myself accountable by analyzing what I do and why I do it. I’ll, then, highlight in different colors to differentiate between “For the Lord”, “In service to others”, and “Purely for myself”. This will extend to EVERYTHING, ya’ll! I’m talking what I’m eating, what I’m speaking, and how I’m moving. Are you with me? I’ll report back and let you know how it goes and I would love to hear from you.
I would also LOVE to know what keeps you motivated! Comment and let me know!
