Home Office Makeover:

Wow, October is almost over, and I don’t know about you, but I have been insanely busy lately. I am thankful for all the work that has come my way, but I feel like I may go insane. I’m the type of person that works well in a clean organized space. I am also the kind of person that has to have everything within arms reach, I write on anything and everything (bill envelopes with recipes on them, anyone?). So basically I work best in organized chaos. Over the past three months, I have worked more than I ever have as a blogger, and that’s a great thing, but I knew I had to get my crap together.

Office Before Makeover

My office was starting to look like a bomb went off. I started struggling to find things… you know like bills, papers that needed to signed and returned to school, and my favorite pens (yes, I am slightly OCD about my pens).

Organizing Your Office

I knew I had to do something. I am also the kind of girl that works in her PJ’s or Yoga pants but still wants to be surrounded by girly and beautiful things to stay inspired and keep the creativity flowing.

Messy Desk

As you can see my desk was getting loaded down with everyone’s junk, and I was just sticking things in every nook and cranny so I would at least know where everything was.

One of the biggest issues with my home office is that it’s located in the dining room. Not exactly my dream location, but I am thankful none the less for the built in desks and storage. Due to the location my office is the spot in the house where everyone feels like they can toss their stuff and keep on movin’. Well, guess what houseguests (sorry I miss Big Brother) NO MORE! No more I tell you. I am reclaiming my office.

Big Lots Office Makeover Home

I hit my go-to home decor store Big Lots to see if they had received any new home decor. I like to check every few weeks because they move through different themes and options quickly, and I didn’t want to miss out on the perfect decor.

Office Decor

With winter coming and my depression starting to rear its ugly seasonal head, I wanted to have a mix of earth tones that would work well with everything (after all, everyone can see my office) as well as something that reminded me of summer and the season that makes me happiest. I didn’t want to do something crazy (and by crazy I mean awesome to me) like bright pinks and teals because it just wouldn’t flow with the rest of the house, so I had to find something perfect for me.

Guess what?! Big Lots didn’t disappoint. Do they ever?

Office Makeover 2015

I found some beautiful, girly, mild beach canvases. The gold text made them girly enough, and the darker muted tones gave off a vibe that will work with everything else we are decorating with.

As you can see, I had already claimed this little corner in the kitchen as part of my office, but I hardly used either of the calendars (I have four calendars for my desk/desktop). So I decided to fill that space with storage for the blog review items I keep close until my reviews are written.

This little mini dresser was a perfect fit, and a great place to stash my products!

This new piece of furniture gave me the opportunity to clean up my shelves and add more decor instead of clutter! I also added a rug because my chair is always moving all over the place, and it has started scratching up the floor.

Big Lots Office Makeover

I love the look of my home office and I am already feeling more organized, in control, and productive!

Big Lots Home Office Makeover

Yay! I found my pens!

So what about you? What kind of office do you work in? What theme would you choose if you could give yourself a Big Lots Home Office Makeover?
