Giving It All Away By David Green (Hobby Lobby)

Last week I read the book Giving It All Away by David Green, the CEO of Hobby Lobby. Today I want to share my thoughts about this book with you.

Giving, Hobby Lobby, and God have been sponsored by Hobby Lobby. All opinions are my own!

I love how God works in my life. I have always been a giver, and I know that God has given me a heart that desires to give but my heart and reality don’t always line up as well as I would hope.

People in my life have always been there to warn me about giving and have frankly believed I was a little crazy about giving so much.

I’d be lying if I said that other people’s reactions and advice had not affected me.

Sadly it has been easy over the years for these voices to drown out the voice of God or make me doubt that it’s God I’ve heard in the first place and not myself.

Giving It All Away… And Getting It Back Again: My Review:

I love everything about the new book “Giving It All Away By David Green”

While reading this book, I felt it was written for me. I have always questioned how much I should give as a “smart entrepreneur,” and this book helped me answer that question.

Before this week, I have never read anything about David Green or Hobby Lobby.

I’ve heard about the case, and I know Hobby Lobby is a Christian company that stands its ground, but that was all I knew before reading this book.

I enjoyed learning more about Hobby Lobby, the Business, and the people behind it. It was also interesting to learn more about the widely publicized insurance-related court case.

While the history and stories about Hobby Lobby are great to read, nothing compares to the messages about building, leaving a legacy, and giving.

This book contains precious resources and information that will help you no matter where you find yourself on the giving journey.

Here are a few of my favorite takeaways from this book:

– The things I do for Christ are the things that will last.
– I can use my blessings to bless those around me.
-Teaching what a legacy is and how we can pass it down to those who follow behind us.
– Guidance on how to choose where to give! This one was beneficial to me.
– Focusing on more than money: Integrity, Ethics, and Heart.

I love knowing that I can listen to God’s prompting in my heart without being a foolish business person. It would be foolish not to listen to God!

Before, I often felt like I needed to be doing “Christian work” if I wanted to please God, and after reading this book, David Green gave me a new perspective.

God can use me in his Kingdom Work with the gifts and passions he gave me as an entrepreneur! I don’t have to work in ministry to have a life of ministry! That is life-changing!

I can not say enough good things about this book. Everyone should read it, and I will pass this along to my husband.

Buy the book today; you’ll be glad you did!

Hobby Lobby paid me to write this post. All opinions are my own.

2022 Update: I wrote this post a few years ago. Now I see the problematic issues behind this Business.

From racially insensitive products, stealing artifacts and profiting from them, and trying to control their worker’s choices, I no longer feel the way I did when I read this book. Have no idea what I’m referring to? Check out the 16 Biggest Hobby Lobby Controversies.

I still love giving and believe in the messages behind giving, but I can no longer respect the source.
