As a moms it can be so hard to find the time or resources to enjoy a trip to the spa. With that in mind I decided to share some of my favorite “at home” spa day tips with you, along with a fabulous dark chocolate coffee fat bomb recipe! I paired my fat bomb with McCafé Colombian coffee because I wanted to see how well the dark chocolate paired with a medium-dark roast and it was amazing! The new McCafé Coffee is made with 100% Arabica beans and has a rich flavor and aroma that pair perfectly with the dark cocoa powder used in this recipe. Even if you normally drink a light – medium roast it’s worth giving this coffee a shot (you can always add a little extra heavy cream) because it goes down so smoothly but reminds me of a gourmet espresso.
Before I share the recipe, I’d like to share some of my favorite ways to enjoy an affordable at-home spa day.
I purchased all of these items from Walmart for my spa day (other than the items I already had of course). My total cost: $23.70 – That’s cheaper than… well any spa service!
I already had the tea, butter, and coconut oil. Oh, and in case you are curious, I did indeed buy myself flowers. I started buying my own flowers about two years ago. I realized that as much as I enjoy receiving flowers as a gift, I enjoy them just as much when I buy them for myself! You should try it sometime!
To start this spa day off right I mixed up an easy DIY face mask.
All you need for this mask is 1 egg yolk, 1/2 an avocado (the softer the better), and 1/2 a banana. Mix well using a spoon, or put them in a food processor. I like to place my mask in the fridge while I steep the black tea bags for my eyes.
You can apply the mask while you wait for your tea bags to cool and then apply them to your eyes. Relax for 10 minutes (or longer) and then wash the mask away. This mixture smells like bananas, which I find pleasant.
After you’ve enjoyed a little relaxing in bed, it’s time to hit the water. I love soaking in the tub, and I just don’t do it often enough. That’s why I love breaking away and enjoying a soak with Epson Salt & Lavender. I love taking baths so much that the tub is the first thing I look at when we are house hunting! I’m not a closet girl, I’m a garden tub girl!
If you would rather feel energized try adding peppermint oil to your bath instead of lavender.
Once I’ve gotten myself as relaxed as possible, I love to read. I really enjoy reading when the house is empty because I don’t get interrupted and I don’t have to hide in the bathroom! 😉 That’s where the coffee and fat bombs come in! I mean I can’t possible read without an amazing cup of coffee, can you?
Dark Chocolate Coffee Fat Bomb Recipe:
After enjoying some amazing coffee and a good book I finally paint my nails so that my family knows my “spa day” actually happened! I usually purchase cheap nail polish, but on a day like this I don’t mind throwing down $8.50 for a nice bottle of Essie, especially when they have my favorite color!
You can find every item mentioned in this post at Walmart. Your price may be a little higher than mine if you don’t have coconut oil and cocoa powder at home, but if you love keto, I’m assuming you do!
Let me know which variety of coffee you try this with and which flavors you like best together.
You can purchase McCafé coffee in bags or pods. We use bagged coffee with a reusable filter!
