~ I received the dresses pictured below from Tea Clothing in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
I couldn’t wait to have a daughter. All I heard when I found out I was pregnant was how much more fun it is to purchase girl’s clothing than it is to purchase boy’s clothing, but I am finding that dressing girls is a lot harder than I imagined.
What frustrates me the most about shopping for my little girls, is how childhood seems to be lost. Are designers even considering their consumer anymore? Don’t get me wrong; I don’t want my daughter to look like she just stepped out of Little House on the Prairie, but I also don’t want her to look like Lady Ga Ga’s BFF. As I shop the typical big box stores and even the stores that target girls, I find all similar styles… low cut tops, tube tops, midriff bearing tops, short skirts, even shorter shorts, and frankly it’s depressing. My daughter is very young right now, so I know it will only get worse as she gets older.
Today I had the pleasure of shopping online via the Tea Clothing website and what I found put a smile on my face, and gave me a glimmer of hope. Maybe some companies get it! Maybe, just maybe moms can still purchase unique and adorable clothing that is fashionable and fun for our little girls.
I believe that we can teach our daughters an important lesson when it comes to clothing. Girls need to know that: style and fashion don’t have to cost them their values. While, younger girls don’t deal with this as much as tweens and teens, I believe we need to instill these traits in our daughters as early in life as possible.
If you feel my pain, head over to the Tea Clothing site and check out some of their designs. I think you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was!
My daughter and I were fortunate enough to review a few dresses from the Tea Collection, and I couldn’t be happier with the styles they offer. The dresses we reviewed are gorgeous and have held up surprisingly well after numerous washes. Tea is the perfect brand for Alexis because the styles and prints compliment her bubbly personality!
Dresses are my personal favorite for this age group because they are so simple, and usually a more affordable option; compared to pulling together a full outfit, but I found so many adorable outfits, that I think I will have to place another order soon!
If you are looking for a way to start your daughter’s spring/summer collection you can purchase mix n match sets that will give you the “must-have” pieces then you can just add additional pieces you love.
