This Building Self Confidence post is sponsored by Vocalpoint and Life Reimagined. All opinions are my own.
I have learned over the years that sometimes your children can teach you a lot about yourself. The latest lesson I learned from my daughter is that my opinion of myself affects her self-confidence. When she was here for a visit, we were looking at one of my pictures when I made a remark about how I looked. She looked at me and said, “Did you know that every time you say something like that, it affects me?” My daughter and I look very much alike, and I never realized that she felt that way.
That’s when I realized that it was time work on building my self-confidence. Over the past twenty years, I have devoted quite a bit of time to home improvement projects so, I decided it was time to dedicate some time and energy to a self-improvement project.
I have always loved the Dr. Phil show, so I decided to try the Life Reimagined® Become the Best Version of Yourself, a monthly subscription service with free activities to help get you discover your authentic self. Once I made that decision, I was already feeling better. Just taking the first step (subscribing to the program) made me feel empowered.
At the beginning of the program, I had to list the defining moments of my life. This part of the program was very enlightening and made me look closer at each occasion in my life to examine how it has affected the person I have become. I learned so much about myself and how moments in time shaped who I have become. I went on to complete the steps involving the critical choices and pivotal people in my life. I continued to learn more about myself and why I think and feel the way I do.
One of the things I like about this program are the short video clips of Dr. Phil talking about each exercise. Before and after each activity, there is a short video clip. These clips help tremendously with the tasks and thought processes that go along with them. I was amazed by how much I learned about myself, and shocked that I was so out of touch with my inner thoughts.
Since completing the course, I have renewed energy. Now I feel like I’m in control of my future. I feel like I can do anything I desire!
Now that I have decided to leave the job that I have been going to for over twenty years and start on a new career path, the timing couldn’t be better! I now understand that I can control that inner voice that tells me whether I am going to succeed or fail. And guess what? Since I am in control of that voice, I will be telling myself that success is possible and that I can do anything I desire! Most importantly, my newly found self-confidence will help my daughter with hers.
Do you feel like a failure? Do you think negative thoughts about yourself? If you are interested working on your self-confidence, I am excited to share a 14 day free trial of Become the Best Version of Yourself.
Since I completed this program, I find it much easier to talk with new people and can participate more freely in events that I attend. I am no longer telling myself that I need to be quiet and stay under the radar! I hope you find the same freedom when you complete your personal journey on the way to find your authentic self.
A note from my daughter: I never realized how much my mom’s view of herself transferred over to my own views when I was growing up. My mom never really talked about her weight or her looks very often so I wouldn’t say I had a bad self-image because of her, but it was the things she did that she didn’t even really notice. She was an introvert, and she didn’t enjoy meeting new people. Watching my mom I saw that she was passionate about certain things and did really well with anything she put her mind to, but she didn’t believe in herself. Those are the things I carried with me that I never realized were taught. I assumed that was just the type of person I was. After my husband joined the military and I was forced to figure out ways to make money while staying at home, I learned a lot about myself. I learned that I could be successful at pretty much anything I tried. The funny thing was that the women who couldn’t trust her own dreams, and who wasn’t strong enough to take a risk was pushing me to reach my goals and believed in me.
My mom has grown more in the past year than I could have ever imagined, but I can tell that this course has helped her in ways I never could. The woman is talking to strangers! That is not the mom I know! After years of being a wallflower, she is starting to shine bright like the star I’ve always believed her to be, and I couldn’t be prouder of her!
I love you, mom!
