Looking back over the past 12 years, I can’t believe that this is the beautiful family that John and I have created. I could have never imagined being a mom of four, and I know John never imagined us living this life either. Thankfully, our plans were not God’s plans.
When I look at my family, I can’t help but think of how beautiful each and every one of them is to me. They are all so different, all so beautiful in their own ways. I am unworthy to be blessed with such an amazing group of crazies surrounding me every day.
My Beautiful Family:
John, you are an amazing man. You work so hard for our family every day. You go above and beyond to make sure we have everything we need, and even the things we don’t need, just to make us smile. You listen to me talk for hours about things I’m passionate about, and pull me in when I start getting ahead of myself. You stand strong when I’m shaking in my awesome new boots (thanks baby), and you are the person I count on, to shoot it to me straight. I love you.
Jordan, you my dear are the geekiest of them all (well, aside from me of course). You’re awareness amazes me. You quickly pick up on how others are feeling, you are sensitive and gentle, you love and forgive with ease. You are the best friend every kids wants because you give your all to the people you care about, and would do anything for anyone (except maybe your brother). You are a talented singer and actor, and soon will become a talented trumpet player. You are everything I wish I would have been at your age. I love you.
John Jr., Oh, John John. You crack me up. You are my comic relief at the most unexpected moments. You are dramatic and full of talent. You are fascinated by animals, and have soaked up more information about them in your ten years than I have my entire life. You have star potential, but I hope you don’t go down that road. I pray your compassion leads you, and that your desire to be a pastor never leaves you. I love you.
Alexis, you are the daughter I always dreamed of. A little blonde with curly hair, that loves to paint nails and do all things girly. You have the most beautiful smile, and you think some pretty crazy things. Like saying you look prettier now that you are missing your front tooth. I know you believe this because you love to show it off in every picture. You are beautiful, but not because you’re pretty (though you are), but because you love to make others smile, and you do little things for others without being asked. You want to help, and you want to follow the rules. You are a princess, and I love you.
Anna Banana, how did I ever get so blessed to be surprised by you? I wasn’t ready, and I didn’t think I could handle being a mommy to four children, but you proved me wrong. You are my baby, a mama’s girl, and a perfect mixture of everything I love about your brothers and sister. You are silly and sweet. You are talented and dramatic. Your freckled face lights up my day, and your laugh is unlike any I’ve ever heard before. You humor my social media habits by helping me make videos, and you even take pictures of me for my blog. You are something else, and the most amazing surprise I could have ever asked for. You are my silly goose, and I love you.
This is my beautiful family, and again I say I am blessed beyond measure. I encourage you to write out a gratitude post like the one above and share your thoughts with your family. Words of encouragement can really build your family members up, and as moms and wives that’s one of our highest callings.
